Melting the Atlas and Axis

with Patrick Moore, LMT, BA

Saturday, April 11, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 7 CE hours, $140.00.  View Patrick Moore's 2003 Atlas Axis article from Massage Therapy Journal.  You'll receive the 2008 version (simplified and expanded) by email as soon as you register—please read in advance of class.

Learn to invoke the brain to relax the obliquus capitis inferior and superior muscles that rotate the atlanto-axial joint and sidebend the occipito-atlantal joint.  Sound complex?  Because we begin simple and add small steps, your hands easily digest the maneuvers.  Halfway through the day you'll be surprised to notice your hands happily performing the new technique.  Your conscious brain will remember the complex steps your hands learned, when you read the included e-article again after the class.  Because we work in revolving pairs throughout the day, you'll be profoundly relaxed after receiving this gift from your classmates.

Releasing Cellular Memory –Advanced Topics in Energy Series

with Patrick Moore, LMT, BA

Sunday, April 12, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 5 CE Hours $105.00.  Required Reading:  Cell Talk by John Upledger,  pp. 1-36  pp. 110-127,

Students learn to speak with any cells in the body using the person's own voice.  In this way we may:

  • quickly locate the highest priorities for this person's healing
  • know the methods that this person will respond to
  • gain the person's partnership, guidance, and support in their healing.

By talking with cells and doing what they suggest, we find immediate changes in muscle tension, breathing, and positive comments from the recipient.  Practicing this method enables further conversations with the person's Genetic, DNA, Archetypal, and Past-life memories.  A very simple method that allows any practitioner to have the effectiveness of a specialist, because the part of the person guiding you is the world's foremost specialist in that area of their own body.

Charles Darwin believed that genes changed only over thousands of generations, but one of his contemporaries, Chevalier de Lamarck (1744-1829) argued that DNA changes intelligently during one lifetime in response to life events.  In 2007, Science News verified Lamarck's view--studies with rats proved that DNA in fact does adapt and change in one lifetime.

Patrick Moore has been practicing and studying energy healing for more than thirty years, including over a thousand hours of classroom, internship, and private instruction.

Once only the most skilled Osteopathic Doctors could actually feel and influence brain tissues.  Now these healing skills may be embraced by any sincere person.

You will learn:

  • to feel the motion of the brain within the cranium
  • to feel the motion of the brain stem and spinal cord within the spine
  • techniques with recipient both face up and face down
  • how the brain communicates and understands through symbols

Course Descriptions--Five Therapeutic Massage CE Courses

Reversing Tendinitis

4 CE Hours NCBTMB $70.00

Required reading:  Article by Patrick Moore:  http://ezinearticles.com/?Heal-Your-Own-Tendinitis&id=1106944

When Tendinitis is treated not as inflammation, but scar tissue, reversing tendinitis becomes a simple mechanical matter.  You'll learn to removing the overgrown scar tissue with the effects of ice, massage, and intention.  An important part of healing is to redirect the person's perspective.  Hope, visualization, and expectation, research has shown, dramatically influence the immune system.  Learn to explain to clients: "This is how your body got this way and this is why it will improve with my treatment and your homework."

Reversing Tendinitis

$80.00, provides 4 CE Hours toward NCBTMB and AZ State.  Handouts.

Tendinitis is scar tissue.  There are two problems with scar tissue--first, it creates a lump that rubs on other things which creates pain from friction.  Second, randomly directed scar tissue fibers are not as strong as the original parallel tendon fibers.  Reversing tendinitis is simply a matter of removing the non-parallel fibers of scar tissue with the effects of ice.  The only difficult part is finding the exact site of the lesion, which is smaller than a grain of rice.  That's why we'll practice drawing, palpating and icing these tendon sites: subscapularis, infraspinatus, supraspinatus, extensor digitorum, flexor digitorum, plantar fascia, pectineus, and psoas.  Please read the article by Patrick Moore in advance at  http://ezinearticles.com/?Heal-Your-Own-Tendinitis&id=1106944

Standing Wave Jostling

People bring heavy emotions and hard muscles into the massage room.  Jostling lightens up the tone of any bodywork session.  In the last five years, research has shown that playful teasing aids a depth of trust and communication.  Jostling is playful and aids depth of nonverbal communication and trust.

Jostling is both an art and a science.  The science part is the "standing wave," which we will diagram.  Hands-on exercises include learning to play "overtones" on a guitar and to jostle a rope into a standing wave.  Once the waveform is seen, heard, and felt proprioceptively, we move on to create standing waves through your partner on the massage table.  We will also do seven dance/movement exercises to jostle our own bodies free at the chakras for an "inside" experience of standing wave jostling.

Technique you will learn:  By poking the bottom of the foot you will learn to create a vibration of hip elevation and lumbar sidebending.  From the knee we can vibrate the hip into medial and lateral rotation.  While working the hand we vibrate the shoulder and neck.

Digging Fossils: Elbows in Low Back and Psoas Treatment $80 5-hr

Muscle Tension was created at some time in the past.  The person experienced an event or injury too intense to process in the moment. The person's brain then stored the intensity in the muscles to process later.  The tension is stored as a puzzle, just difficult enough that the person won't accidentally re-expereince the injury.

Our job as muscle therapists is to unravel this puzzle in a respectful way that does not overwhelm the person. The skilled therapist allows just the right amount of intensity to seep out of the muscles so that the comfortable person may process at a rate that is perfect for them.

Using your elbow does not mean you have to use your whole body weight to crush a muscle to death! Elbows can be used at any pressure level that you would use your hands.

Elbows are a great tool for massage for several reasons. They don't fatigue. Muscles are more likely to relax if your contact point provides steady, unvarying pressure for long enough to feel the muscle change.

No lecture: During partner exercises we will re-train your awareness through your friendly elbow so that you can a) "feel" small changes in muscle, b) experience featherlight pressures, and c) vary pressure in repeatable increments from one to one hundred.

Muscle groups we'll melt with friendly elbows: lumbar paraspinals, lumbar sidebenders, psoas. Bring sheets and massage oil only; lotion is too slippery.

Course Descriptions--Melting Muscles Overview

Melting Muscles--Shortening Phases courses

Melting Muscles is a conversation you initiate with a person's subconscious brain. Your hands say "safety" through positioning short of the subtle motion barrier, movements that are slow and steady, pressure that gradually builds and retires, and by seeking to feel the cranial muscle motion.  The person "hears" through their muscle proprioceptors and pressure sensors. The person "replies" by reducing muscle contraction, and by reversing or releasing cranial muscle motion. You keep the conversation interesting by adding your own personal strokes to the muscles.  Whether the person's forebrain falls asleep, talks about the weather, tries to "help" or resist, you remain engaged in a lively conversation with the person's subconscious brain. Because treatments are gentle and thumb-free, your hands are happy.  Their muscles relax more fully and permanently than ever before.

Negotiating directly with the brain does far more than relax muscles:  the immune system finds more joy in supporting the person. The digestive, endocrine, integumentary, nervous, and cardiovascular systems return to efficient balance. A person in a state of peace rethinks behaviors and relationships. The world becomes a better place.

No sitting at desks--100% table time! Theory is presented verbally as your hands work on, or receive from, your partner.  Each Melting Muscles photo-workbook will be emailed to you as soon as you register so that you may read ahead if you like.

Instructor: Patrick Moore, LMT, BA         Required Reading: supplied e-book.

Combines the graceful motions of unwinding with melting muscles.  Ideal for massage therapists who have grown familiar with muscle locations and actions, who would like to have a new topic of conversation with the body.  We will treat the major muscle groups of our partner who is supine and clothed (please wear loose clothing, cotton or lycra).  Can be used as a full-body muscle massage or for specific needs.  You'll learn to listen to the body tell you where it wants you to work.  The body sometimes requests we spend 45 minutes or longer in one area, as long as we are making steady progress the whole while.  You'll also learn how jostling is the perfect complement to cranial motion.

Muscle Unwinding--Advanced Melting Muscles

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with one hour break for lunch, $140.00, includes 10 pages of text handouts by Patrick Moore, provides 7 CE Hours toward NCBTMB and AZ State

Unwinding Muscles  7 CE hours includes e-book

Muscle Tension was created at some time in the past.  The person experienced an event or injury too intense to process in the moment. The person's brain then stored the intensity in the muscles to process later.  The tension is stored as a puzzle, just difficult enough that the person won't accidentally re-expereince the injury.

Our job as muscle therapists is to unravel this puzzle in a respectful way that does not overwhelm the person. The skilled therapist allows just the right amount of intensity to seep out of the muscles so that the comfortable person may process at a rate that is perfect for them.

Unwinding Muscles is a method of listening to the muscles which always know just how much they are willing to release at any moment. By following the body's hints, adding actual motion to their cranial motions, and adding muscle massage, you help the body comfortably release what has been wound tight for years or longer.

Unwinding Muscles is the advanced Melting Muscles technique. You may take Unwinding Muscles without having graduated from the Melting Muscles courses if you agree to read the included e-book in advance.

Melting Muscles Teacher Training Day

prerequisites: Melting Muscles upper and lower body, Atlas and Axis, Muscle Unwinding, Ethics: The Equal Therapeutic Relationship.  Several documents including "How To Teach Melting Muscles."

In this course we'll review what's taught in the Melting Muscles courses, give teaching strategies, and practice teaching each other with feedback.  Graduates of this course may apply to become Melting Muscles teachers and provide CE hours.

Awareness Of Melting $110 gives 5-CE hours, $95 if no CEU, $25 for repeaters.

Prerequisite: any Melting Muscles class or advance practice of melting technique from Melting Muscles e-book ($25)

In the Melting Muscles classes, when you felt the recipient's muscle melting you were encouraged to ask, "Do you feel the muscle melting?" This brings the recipient's conscious awareness to a process that is normally subconscious. In this course we take the next step; while the giver and recipient are both aware of melting, your Subjective and their Objective awareness is identical. Three therapeutic benefits of identical awareness are, a) giver can modify instantly for greater effect, b) directions to the roots of the situation are clear to the giver, and c) recipient has undeniable experience that they have changed.

No lecture. Entire 5 hours spent at massage tables: melting muscles with awareness-prompting questions and in-the-moment feedback. Time for questions and theory between trades.

Course Descriptions--Five Reiki Courses NCB CE

Reiki Level One, 5 CE hours, $150.00, Includes workbook that shows hand positions, history, and philosophy of Reiki
Rediscovered in 1914 by Mikao Usui, Reiki is an ages-old healing method transmitted from teacher to student by an attunement given into your chakras and palms of your hands. Course is student-centered, focusing on your questions and concerns, with lots of partner practice and fun. This course and attunement are all you need to offer Reiki to the public, either by placing hands lightly on the body in 12 preset positions, or by holding your hands 12 to 18 inches above the body. Many LMTs simply add Reiki energy in to their existing massage sessions. This course is also open to people who are not bodyworkers, who would like to do Reiki on friends, family, animals, and oneself. Receiving the Reiki attunement and practicing on yourself is a wonderful healing complement for those undergoing chemo, radiation, or other treatments. Reiki is very effective as self-care for alleviating physical stresses in your body, and mental, emotional and spiritual resolution of old patterns. Reiki also empowers goals, abundance, starts broken cars, assists first aid, connects you with nature, animals, and boosts creativity. A fun, low pressure class.

Reiki Level Two, $250.00, Includes Level II workbook that shows how to draw and pronounce the three level two symbols, and a calligraphed Level II diploma.
Level II is offered for those Reiki Level One graduates who want more precise influence for mental/emotional assistance and for directing Reiki at a distance. Level II practitioners may send healing to any moment in the past or future as well as to anyone at any location no matter how distant. For Level II, your hands are attuned to three of the four Usui Reiki symbols to make your access to enhance your awareness of the energy flow. You will be encouraged to memorize the drawing and pronunciation of these three symbols, to aid your specialization. Open to all people who want more specific tools to direct energy for other people, animals, the globe, ones own healing and goals.

Reiki Topics—Distance Symbol (prereq level II and above)

Reiki Level Three (Reiki Master),
5 CE hours, $400.00, Includes Level III workbook with step-by-step instructions how to give Attunements. Reiki Master diploma is printed on special heavyweight canvas.
Considered the "Master" level of Reiki, offered to those people wishing to commit to a lifestyle of service. All four Usui symbols are given into your hands during your attunement. This empowers you to then give attunements to others, both Reiki Level (I, II, and III) attunements and "healing" attunements. You will be encouraged to memorize three more symbols for a total of four Usui Reiki and two Tibetan symbols. Reiki is the sweet and gentle way to change your life and the lives of others!

Reiki Teacher Training Workshop
5 CE hours, $95.00.
This class gives you no more Reiki attunement--you already received the highest level attunement in your Reiki III-Master class. This workshop is for those Reiki Masters who want a little more instruction, support and confidence in getting their Teacher business going. We will learn teaching methods and philosophy, pricing, advertising, practice teaching with feedback, and practice giving attunements to each other. Patrick has been teaching since 1986 and loves teaching teachers more than anything else!

Advanced Topics in Reiki—Healing the Past and Future using the Distance Symbol

Course Descriptions--two NCB Ethics courses

Ethics—Creating Equal Relationships
includes handouts, covers Standard V of NCBTMB
A fun way to get your Ethics credits, and valuable for anyone who wants work to be more fun and relaxed. Rather than a list of "Do's" and "Dont's" this ethics class explores more about how to adjust professional relationships to be more equal. Equality not only is more serving, but feels relaxed and friendly. Because therapists (and teachers) are often placed on a pedestal, we'll learn ways to empower the patient or student, (which also accelerates their healing/learning). Sometimes it is the massage practitioner who enters the relationship with less power (for example, in a ritzy spa where the practitioner must call the guest by their last name and only speak when spoken to). In this case, we find ways to empower therapists to rise to equality. This course is taught in the "student-centered" approach of Carl Rogers. We will cover written questionnaires, group discussion, and time for you to share your own working situation if you would like help adjusting your power differential.
Ethics Topics: Equal Therapeutic Relationships
6 CE hours covers Standard V of NCBTMB. $95.00
Rather than a list of "Do's" and "Dont's" this ethics class explores more about how to create professional relationships that are more healing and serving, through the process of Equality. Whether you are a therapist or a teacher, taking steps to empower the patient or student accelerates their healing. Sometimes it is the massage practitioner who enters the relationship with less power, for example, in a ritzy spa where the practitioner must call the guest by their last name and only speak when spoken to. In this case, it is the therapist who needs empowering to be equal to the recipient. This course is taught in the "student-centered" approach of Carl Rogers. We will cover written questionaires, group discussion, and time for you to share your own working situation if you would like help adjusting the power differential to be more equal.

Father of Ethics
A fresh approach to professional ethics using the methods of Socrates, who is considered the Father of Ethics, the first Philosopher. Like Socrates, your teacher will not tell you the right answers, but question you, which activates your essence; the source of knowledge and understanding. Topics vary depending on students’ interest and may include some or all of the NCBTMB Standards of Practice including 2 hours of Standard V—Boundaries. Please read in advance any of these four Socrates dialogues written by Plato, published freely from many sources online: simply google “Apology, Euthyphro, Crito, and Phaedo.” Jot down anything that seems interesting. The more questions and topics you bring, the more interesting class will be! Like Socrates, we will engage in group discussion without giving advice but instead asking good questions. Socrates' theory was that good questions activate your essence, the source of knowledge and understanding. Topics vary depending on students’ interest and may include: intake questions, client comfort questions, screening to get the type of clients you want, interviewing, employee and employer relations…
