On Sunday, November 26, 2017 the title has changed to Hold-Relax Stretching – Stretch-Free Muscle Lengthening using PNF and MET
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (hands-on-body)
For a 5 hour hands-on workshop with Patrick the price is $115.00, or only $86.25 if you pay in full 10 days in advance (25% discount). Please wear stretchy clothing. We will be learning to lengthen the quads, hamstrings, hip medial and lateral rotators ("clearing the hip") and one more "stretch" of your choice.
We will also cover assessing the pelvis for tipping backward or forward. As the person stands facing to the left, you sit on your stool with your eye about level with the person’s hip. You place one finger on the ASIS and one finger on the PSIS and see which finger is higher. If the ASIS is lower than the PSIS on one side, this might indicate a tight quad on that side. We test this hypothesis by using MET/PNF “Hold-Relax Stretching” on the quad. Then we re-assess. If we find the ASIS is now equal with the PSIS, then our job is done. We will briefly discuss what other factors tip the pelvis forward and backward, including tight muscles above the pelvis, and weak muscles.
