Practitioners often tell me they have taken Reiki training but they are not sure if they feel the energy moving. Recipients are not sure they notice a difference.
What does a practitioner need, to feel confident about Reiki? Would you feel more confident:
- . . if you could feel the energy in your hands?
- . . if you could do experiments, with repeatable results, where you sense where the energy is different in recipients' bodies?
- . . if you could feel the energy when you are lying on the table and someone is practicing on you?
As a teacher of muscle relaxation and craniosacral, I have always focused on practitioner confidence. When you can feel things in your hands that need help, and you can feel those things change in the moment, this increases your confidence. When you have more and more of these experiences, every time you practice, your confidence soars.
In Reiki classes I have you practice with others on the table. I guide you in ways that you are having feedback quickly, both when it is working and not, so that your hands can tune in to the accuracy. During these exchanges, recipients give valuable feedback that helps you build accuracy and effectiveness.
Even more important, is coming from the right place. There are seven ways to come from the right place including patience, presence, curiosity and non-judgment. When you understand this place, and come from it, your effectiveness will be dramatic.
Reiki comes from a tradition similar to Buddhism, where attunements or empowerments are given to awaken things in the practitioner. As a former Buddhist, I have received empowerments from three Tibetan gurus including the 14th Dalai Lama. From him I received the empowerment for compassion, called Chenrezi or Avalokiteshvara. From Jigdal Dagchen Sakya I received Medicine Buddha empowerment. From his wife, Dagmola Sakay, I received Green Tara.
I have also trained extensively with Stephen Bruno who adds the word Unconditional in front of the word Compassion, to help a practitioner come from the right place.
When you are coming from the right place, this really improves your connection with the energy, what is wanting help, and how to be of the best service for this person, and all the other people this person will interact with, into the future.
The next Reiki classes are listed below. My wife and I have been staying in Bisbee frequently and volunteering at a monthly Reiki clinic there. Now we both teach at this center occasionally. I hope to see you there!
