What Do You Need, to Feel More Confident with Reiki?

Practitioners often tell me they have taken Reiki training but they are not sure if they feel the energy moving. Recipients are not sure they notice a difference. Receiving the attunement is enough for the energy to flow, but that does not mean you feel the flow, or that you feel confident.

What does a practitioner need, to feel confident connecting with others (and oneself) with energy? Would you feel more confident:

  • . . if you could feel the energy in your hands?
  • . . if you could practice in a safe environment, with hits and misses, until you know you sense precisely when and where the energy is shifting?
  • . . if you could feel the energy in yourself, when you are lying on the table and someone is practicing on you?
in this cute photo from 2003 I had trained my 14 year old
daughter how to do an essence connection with Reiki and she was practicing on her friend.

As a teacher of muscle relaxation and craniosacral, I have always focused on practitioner confidence. In these classes you will practice with others on the table. During these exchanges, I encourage you and the recipient to share with each other what you feel. This feedback process accelerates your accuracy, effectiveness and confidence. You may also work on me or have me work on you to feel both, with discussion of each shift of energy.

Even more important for building your confidence, is knowing you are coming from the right place. There are at least seven ways to come from the right place that we will discuss, including

  1. patience,
  2. presence,
  3. curiosity and
  4. non-judgment.

When you come from your right place, the effects will speak for themselves. Your confidence grows quickly.

Reiki comes from a tradition similar to Buddhism, where attunements or empowerments are given to awaken things in the practitioner. As a former Buddhist, I have received empowerments from three Tibetan gurus including the the empowerment for compassion, called Chenrezi or Avalokiteshvara from H.H. Tenzin Gyatso. From Jigdal Dagchen Sakya I received Medicine Buddha empowerment. From his wife, Dagmola Sakya, I received Green Tara.

I have also trained extensively with Stephen Bruno who adds the word Unconditional in front of the word Compassion, to help a practitioner come from the place that will maximize healing and other effects.

The next Reiki classes are listed below. My wife and I have been staying in Bisbee frequently and volunteering at a monthly free Reiki clinic there. Now we both teach at this center occasionally. I hope to see you there!
